Before the start of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, Team India's batting was considered the most dangerous, as its batsmen were in excellent form. For this reason, the Indian team was consistently scoring totals of over 200, but in the current ICC tournament, Suryakumar Yadav's team is in poor form. In the group stage, India did not score a big total as expected in any match, yet they were winning; this streak ended in the Super 8 stage.

In the Super 8 match against South Africa, India faced a heavy defeat by 76 runs. In this match, while chasing a target of 188, the Indian team was restricted to just 111, making it the third-lowest total in T20 World Cup history.

India defended this small total effectively, restricting Pakistan to just 113/7. In this way, India won the match by 6 runs.
