Why Yahasvi Jaiswal was not selected for Asia Cup 2025?
Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have done well as the openers and there was no way management could fit in Jaiswal with Gill being another opening option if needed.

The Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025 was announced on August 19. While many names were a given fact some came out of syllabus. Speaking of it, Shubman Gill had not played a T20I since July 2024, and he was included in the squad. Gill not only made it to the squad, rather, he was named as the vice captain of the team.
On the other hand, another name, which was certain in terms of fans speculations was that of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal missed out on the opportunity to feature in the Asia Cup as the openers slot to as filled. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have done well as the openers and there was no way management could fit in Jaiswal with Gill being another opening option if needed.

Yashasvi missed out. It is hard on him, but it was between him and Abhishek Sharma, who has done well for India in the T20Is," said Ajit Agarkar.
On the other hand, Rinku Singh is back in the squad and so does Harshith Rana and Jitesh Sharma. Jasprit Bumrah. Whose availability was skeptical made himself available for the series and he is included in the squad. After a prolonged meeting, the BCCI has unveiled 15 member squad who will fight it out in the Asia Cup 2025.
