The Indian T20I capain, Suryakumar Yadav, tried to copy the bowling action with the pause of the Pakistan spinner, Usman Tariq, during their practice session ahead of the clash between India and Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026.

In the pre-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20I captain, revealed that they would be prepared to face the mysterious action of the Pakistan spinner, Usman Tariq, during their meeting in the T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sky didn’t look anxious at all.
A unique way was seen for the Indian side in the practice session where Sky was seen to turn his bowling action like Tariq against the left-handed batter, Abhishek Sharma, who has been trying his best to get back to full fitness and return for the marquee event.
Sky was seen to be coming with his off-breaks in the same way as Tariq, and just like releasing the ball, he had stopped for a second or two, making it judgeable for the batters to read the situation and attack accordingly. It would be the acid test for the blue brigade in how they tackle the spinner, especially in the middle overs (7-15) of the innings.

Tariq comes with the special performance of 3/27 against United States of America (USA) at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo and has a lot of scrutiny on his bowling action, which has been denied by his captain, Salman Ali Agha, who focuses on the other players too.

“If you get an out-of-syllabus question in the exams, you don’t leave it, you try and answer that. That’s what we will look to do. And it’s not that we haven’t practiced against bowlers with unusual action- we will plan and practice accordingly.” Sky expressed in the press conference.
“You all have made Usman Tariq a big name. For us, all 15 players are important. He has been bowling well. You can definitely say that he is a trump card for us. He has been cleared by the ICC, so I don't understand why everyone is discussing him. Usman doesn't get affected by these things. He is fine. He doesn't care about these things.” Agha added in the presser.
