Zimbabwe’s captain, Sikandar Raza, won the toss and decided to bowl first for the afternoon clash against Oman during the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. He felt that there would be some movement and help for the bowlers with the new ball, but perhaps he didn’t imagine to dominate the powerplay to put Oman under immense pressure.

By the time, Sikandar Raza came into the attack, Zimbabwe had the upper and the off-spinner had a massive contribution with a ripper that dismissed the left-handed batter, Wasim Ali, for three runs in eight balls. On the final delivery of the seventh over, Raza tossed up the delivery that went with the line.

Wasim played for the turn and pushed his bat away from the body which allowed the big gap between bat and pad. The ball sneaked through and shattered the off-stump and to put Oman deep into the darkness.

Earlier in the game, Blessing Muzarabani went through the defense of the Oman captain, Jatinder Singh, as the in-swinging delivery broke through his defense to break the stumps to send the right-handed batter back into the hut for five runs at run-a-ball. On the very next over, Richard Ngarva dismissed Hammad Mirza for a five-ball duck to increase the Heat on the Asian side.

After being smashed for a boundary on the first delivery of the fourth over, Muzarabani claimed the wicket of Aamir Kaleem for five runs in seven balls. The bounce made the trick as the batter was made to reach out for the ball as he looked to slash hard and only managed to get a thick outside edge that flied straight to the man at the third man region.

Oman found themselves 27/5 in seven overs before Vinayan Skula and Sufyan Mahmood put up a strong partnership to rescue the batting. Any score of around 140 would be massively challenging for the opposition under the floodlights.

Brief Scores: Oman 71/7 (Vinayak Shukla 28, Richard Ngarava 3/9 Blessing Muzurabani 3/10) vs Zimbabwe
