The former Pakistani left-arm fast bowler and captain, Wasim Akram, has given his suggestion on whether India should lock horns with Pakistan during the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The most anticipated clash is expected to take place on September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Although India is the official host of the competition, the entire event will occur at a neutral venue. The mutual agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made it clear that neither of these two sides will host each other apart from neutral grounds during events.

“Asia Cup schedule is out; there is backlash. But we, in Pakistan, are calm. We will be fine whether we play or don’t play. The game must go on. I hope to see a Test series between India and Pakistan in my lifetime. Politics apart, I am not a politician.” Akram expressed during a recent podcast on Stick to Cricket.

The last encounter between these two teams came in the Champions Trophy 2025 at the same venue where the Blue Brigade got the better of the Pakistan side quite comfortably. In the last 20-over fixture between these two sides during the T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States of America and the West Indies.

“They are patriotic about their country; we are patriotic about ours. Let’s not go below the belt. Talk about the triumphs of your country; the same goes for Pakistan, and the same goes for India. However, it’s easier said than done.” Akram addressed during the recent interaction on a cricket podcast.

The Asia Cup 2025 will happen across the two venues, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, from September 09 to 28, featuring eight teams divided into two groups. Group A comprises India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while on the other hand, Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
