Shivam Dube scored his maiden T20 World Cup half-century for India on Wednesday, February 18. In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match between India and the Netherlands in Ahmedabad, Dube scored 66 runs from 31 balls. He hit 4 fours and 6 sixes during his innings. Dube reached his 50 runs in just 25 balls at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The CSK all-rounder's 66-run innings against the Netherlands also broke Hardik Pandya’s record for the highest score by a No. 5 or lower batter for India in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match. On November 10, 2022, Hardik scored 63 runs from 33 balls as a No. 5 batter against England in the semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Dube’s 25-ball fifty was not just quick; it also showed his strong intent against a Dutch team that did not give up easily.

The Shivam Dube Show

The innings started with a bit of luck. Dube’s top-edge fell just before keeper Scott Edwards’ gloves early in the game, giving him a chance he made the most of. He also survived a close LBW call against spinner Aryan Dutt.

Perhaps these near-misses woke him up. When India lost Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, Dube settled in and found his rhythm. The release came against off-spinner Colin Ackermann. The left-hander hit a series of boundaries, giving India much-needed momentum and making the Ahmedabad crowd roar.

Dube’s Power Display

Dube showed he is not just good against spin. He hit Roelof van der Merwe and Logan van Beek with power and precision while his teammates struggled. With support from Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh, India posted a strong total of 193.

Having spent years in the T20 circuit, Dube has finally arrived. His batting was brilliant, but his bowling also changed the game.

Young all-rounder Bas de Leede looked dangerous, hitting some boundaries off Dube’s first few balls. Ackermann joined in too. But Dube stayed calm. He used the drinks break to reset, came back with energy, and trapped de Leede, the Netherlands’ top batter, turning the momentum in India’s favor.
