Just after Jason Holder became the sixth bowler to celebrate 100+ wickets in all three formats of the men’s international game, Romario Shepherd snatched the limelight during the West Indies vs Scotland clash from the T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He claimed a World Cup hat-trick and will cherish the moment.

On the second ball of the 17th over of the innings, Romario Shepherd got the wicket of Matt Cross for 11 runs as the batter opened the face of the bat and carved it straight into the hands of the fielder, where Sherfane Rutherford didn’t make any mistake to grab the simple catch.

On the very next delivery of the over, Michael Leask went forward to loft the pacer by getting forward. It came off the bottom of his bat as Rovman Powell ran to his right and took the catch on the reverse-cup, and he looked in pain and seemed to have injured his shoulder.

On the third successive delivery, Shepherd realized the moment and kept it simple by putting the bat at the stumps, which saw Oliver Davidson missing the straight ball and getting bowled. He missed the delivery, and the ball went past his inside edge to knock the off-stump back, which saw Shepherd claim the victory.

A ball later, Shepherd finished the over with the wicket of Safyaan Sharif for a two-ball duck as the batter smashed the ball into the hands of the mid-off, Jason Holder, who had his bucket of hands and grabbed the reverse-cup catch. Later, the Scotland side got bundled out for 147 runs in 18.5 overs as Shepherd ended with figures of 5/20 in his three overs.

West Indies, in the first innings, notched up 182 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer, at number three, drilled 64 runs in 36 balls at a strike rate of 177.78 with the help of six over-boundaries and two boundaries, besides getting support from a few small knocks.

Brief Scores: WI 182/5 (Shimron Hetmyer 64, Brad Currie 2/23) beat SCO 147 (Richie Berrington 42, Romario Shepherd 5/20) by 35 runs.
