The World Champions, the Indian Women’s Blind cricket team, met the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, as the team arrived at his New Delhi residence with the trophy. All the players together gifted the PM with a signed bat after the Blue Brigade won the title for the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup played on November 23. They defeated Nepal by seven wickets in Colombo.

PM Narendra Modi signed the World Cup final ball while talking to the women’s side. He also celebrated by lifting the trophy and welcomed the players by feeding them laddu. India was captained by Deepika TC from Karnataka, as the 16 players were picked from nine different states across the country to form the team.

In the group stage of the event, all teams featured in five games against each other, with the semifinals being played between the top four positions of the points table. Nepal and India, who won these matches, played in the final. The Blind cricket is played with a plastic ball, which has iron bearings inside it, making a sound when it bounces.

This was the first time a Blind T20 World Cup was being played in women’s cricket, as the Blue Brigade maintained its dominance by winning it, as the men’s blind team won the ODI and T20 World Cup multiple times. The Women’s team has earned the global-level title for the first time.

Before the blind team, India’s Women’s Cricket Team also won its first World Cup. That clash was played at the iconic DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, where they defended their 298 total against South Africa in the final. They made a strong turnaround in the group stage after three successive defeats against the Proteas, England, and Australia.
