Watch MS Dhoni responds to fans' request of playing IPL 2026.

As the trend goes, after every season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there are discussions on whether the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, would turn for another season for his franchise. The million-dollar question is paralleled to his knee pain season after season, but the veteran has always kept the five-time champions at the top of his priority list.
Chennai didn’t enjoy a great success during the previous season of the tournament, finishing at the bottom of the points table of IPL 2025. Would that be a reason for the franchise to go for a young brigade from the new season? The 2011 World Cup-winning captain appeared during an event and reckoned that there is still a lot of time left before he decides on his future for the IPL 2026 edition.
“I don't know whether I'll play or not. I have time to decide. I have some time until December, so I'll take another couple of months, and then finally, I can make my decision.” The Ranchi-born expressed while interacting with the host.

MS Dhoni remains the sixth-highest run-getter of the IPL and the second on the list for the Super Kings. The right-handed batter has smashed 5439 runs in 242 innings at an average of 38.30 and a strike rate of 137.45, scoring 24 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 84 runs. However, in the last couple of seasons, he has only looked to bat at number eight or nine for 10 odd deliveries.
“Arre, ghutne me jo dard hota hai uska take care kaun karega (The pain I have in my knees, who will take care of that)?” The 44-year-old shed light during the same event, as different news has started to come out about various players’ potential trading to the CSK side.
A few days ago, Dhoni met the current leader of the side, Ruturaj Gaikwad, in Chennai, as they have already started their planning for the new season. A few reports have also claimed the potential trading discussion between Chennai and Sanju Samson, who may leave the Rajasthan Royals before the new season.
