Sri Lanka posted a massive score of 225 runs for the loss of five wickets during their second encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against Oman at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The home side were phenomenal with the bat in the first innings, with three half-centuries being scored, before their bowlers carried out a great job in the second innings.

Similarly, Sri Lanka’s fielding was superb, as one instance proved from the direct hit of Kamil Mishra that dismissed the right-handed batter, Vinayak Shukla. On the fifth delivery of the 12th over against Maheesh Theekshana, Oman lost the wicket of Wasim Ali, who got an outside edge into the hands of the wicket-keeper as the ball was pushed through quicker, just outside the off stump.

On the very next delivery of the over, Vinayak pushed the full delivery into the third man region as the ball was squeezed backward of square on the off-side, as he came back for the second run. But Kamil Mishara was on the ball as he threw a direct hit at the stumps.

Vinayak tried hard to sprint across to his left, but it was too late as Kusal Mendis, the wicket-keeper, collected the ball and broke the stumps to bring the curtains down for the batter. The end was near from that point as Oman got restricted to 120 runs in 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets.

Mohammad Nadeem celebrated his unbeaten half-century of 53 runs in 56 balls with the help of three boundaries and one six as both Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana shared two wickets each in the department.

Earlier in the innings, Sri Lanka posted 225/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Kushal Mendis nailed 61 runs in 45 balls with the help of seven boundaries, while Pavan Rathnayake drilled 60 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 214.69. But the late flourish came from their captain, Dasun Shanaka, who grabbed 50 runs in just 20 balls, shouldering on two fours and five sixes.

Brief Scores: SL 225/5 (Kushal Mendis 61, Pavan Rathnayake 60, Jiten Ramanandi 2/41) beat Oman 120/9 (Mohammad Nadeem 53*, Maheesh Theekshana 2/11) by 105 runs.
