This time Mohammed Siraj made no mistake and took the catch safely, without any further drama. Harry Brook had to depart. Akash Deep was the man who was finally able to break the rock-solid partnership between Joe Root and Harry Brook.

Brook went back to the pavilion with a standing ovation from the crowd at The Oval after scoring 111 off 98. His partnership with Joe Root changed the whole momentum of the 5th game of the 5-match Test series. The draw at Old Trafford did not harm England too much, as they maintained a 2-1 lead after four matches, which shaped the last encounter of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy like a final match for team India.

During the initial stage of the second innings and in the early hours of Day 4, Team India set the stage nicely for a high-octane ending. England lost 3 men for 106 while chasing a target of 374. Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Captain Ollie Pope departed. From there, Root and Brook hold their grip strong on their bat and start to add runs to reduce the difference. When Akash Deep took the wicket of Brook, England was then on 301.

Root Brook soaked most of the pressure situation

From 106 to 301, Root and Brook made the Indian bowling line-up an ordinary one in the middle. India could have locked in the scalp of Harry Brook long ago if Mohammed Siraj was able to utilize his presence of mind on the field a little bit more. He grabbed the ball and then touched the boundary rope. A possible wicket-taking moment converted into a four over the boundary for the England cricket team.

During his 111-run innings, the middle-order batsman slammed fourteen 4s and two over boundaries to transfer the pressure to the opposition team.
