Without taking the name itself, the two Indian commentators, Parthiv Patel and Aakash Chopra, have trolled the Pakistan veteran batter and their former captain, Babar Azam, during the live commentary of the T20 World Cup 2026 encounter between England and Nepal at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The incident happened when Sam Curran played the fifth dot ball of the over against Nepal in the first innings, when Parthiv gave a suggestion. The former Indian wicket-keeper batter reckoned that just like players being compared to Abhishek Sharma in case of them playing aggressively, they would need to find a player who plays slowly.

“I feel Aakash, when someone bats aggressively and smashes several sixes in the shortest format, we generally compare that player with Abhisek Sharma. But we need to find a name for those who bat slowly. We can take that player’s name and say that the individual bats like him. It was the fifth dot ball (from Sam Curran).” Parthiv expressed on live commentary.

In reply, Aakash Chopra told Parthiv that he had been commentating from ancient days and left it to the fans to understand. Perhaps Chopra also knew that Parthiv had been taking the name of Babar Azam, but didn’t take the name straightaway.

Watch the video here:

“The name that has come to your mind, you can take it.” Chopra replied, to which Parthiv said, “It’s my question. The answer needs to come from you. Like, whose strike rate is the batting going on?” After which Chopra replied, “Don’t push me at that again and again. I have been commenting for a long time. If you know, you know.”

Babar has overall smashed 4520 runs in 133 T20I innings at an average of 39.30 and a strike rate of 128.15 with the help of three centuries and 39 half-centuries at the best score of 122 runs. Even in T20s, his strike rate is 128.36 in 332 innings.
