During the 15th encounter of The Hundred 2025, the Trent Rockets and Southern Brave met at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The David Willey-led side won the toss and decided to bowl on a surface which was expected to get better for batting in the second innings.

The home side didn’t have the services of Akeal Hossein for the rest of the season, given that the left-arm spinner has flown back to the Caribbean for the CPL 2025. Sam Cook and Tom Aslop made their way out of the eleven with wicket-keeper Tom Moores and Calvin Harrison returning. For the Braves, Jordan Thompson and Danny Briggs come into the team.

Southern Brave lack middle-order firepower to reach 140/4

The opening batter of the side didn’t have a great start, with captain James Vince ending with seven runs in seven balls at a strike rate of 100 with one boundary. Leus du Plooy drilled 55 runs in 34 balls at a strike rate of 161.76, hitting four boundaries and four over boundaries.

Jason Roy couldn’t do much for his 23 runs at run-a-ball while James Coles remained unbeaten on 25 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate just under 140. Michael Bracewell dashed 28 runs in 16 balls, thanks to three boundaries, as they ended with 140/4 in their allotted 100 balls in the first innings.

Trent Bridge turn comfortable chase in acid test

Tom Banton was the only batter in the top order who contributed immensely to the Trent side during the chase. He smashed 49 runs in 38 balls at a strike rate of 128.95, thanks to four boundaries and a couple of sixes. None of the other batters were able to get going.

At 60/4, the game could have drifted away at any point before wicket-keeper Tom Mooes drilled 55 runs in 30 balls at a strike rate of 183.33, with the help of four boundaries and five sixes. Marcus Stoinis nailed a six and took a single as they chased down the target by four wickets in hand and four balls to spare.
