The Hundred 2025, Match 12: Welsh Fire vs Manchester Originals full match highlights and scorecard

During the 12th encounter of The Hundred 2025 between the Welsh Fire and the Manchester Originals at Sophia Gardens, there was pressure on both sides to earn victory. The visiting captain, Phil Salt, won the toss and elected to bowl first on a surface where chasing was potentially getting easy. 

The home side made no changes in the eleven, while Tom Hartley replaced Farhan Ahmed in the side. The rest of the side remained the same.

Welsh fire stretch their way to 137/8

It was not a pleasant start in the first innings of the clash as wicket-keeper batter Jonny Bairstow went back to the pavilion on his third ball. Steve Smith got 26 runs in a stretchy knock of 22 balls. Luke Wells added 13 runs to the scoreboard. Tom Kohler-Cadmore nailed 26 runs in 16 balls at a strike rate of 162.50 with the help of two boundaries and two sixes.

The leader, Tom Abell, smacked 22 runs in 17 balls at a strike rate of 129.41 as Chris Green smashed 19 runs in nine balls with two sixes as the home side stretched their way to 137/8 in 100 balls. Scott Currie and Josh Tongue picked up three wickets each in their set of 20 deliveries.

Manchester originals bundle out for 112 to lose by 25 runs 

The top order of the Manchester side were not in the chase from the start as they lost their captain, Phil Salt, for three runs in four balls. Ben McKinney got 10 runs at run-a-ball while Mark Chapman got out on a duck in five balls. Jos Buttler, however, was on charge from the start despite losing regular wickets. Heinrich Klassen continued his poor form and went back to the dressing room for 11 runs in 12 balls.

Riley Meredith picked up four wickets in 17 balls as they bundled out Manchester for 112 runs in 97 balls. This saw the home side budling out Manchester  for 112 runs to gain a victory by 25 runs.
