Coach Muzumdar Reveals the Winning Mindset

“There were no big messages. We always told each other we needed to finish well. We usually start well, but finishing has been our area to improve. Today was that day," Muzumdar told the official broadcaster JioHotstar after the historic win.

The head coach praised Jemimah Rodrigues and highlighted his strategic decision to promote her to No. 3 as a game-changer.

“I always felt Jemi had the temperament to shift gears. That one move made a difference," Muzumdar said.

Team Spirit and Leadership

The 50-year-old Mumbai stalwart also praised senior players like skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma.

“Harman was calm and smiling all the way through. Deepti kept motivating everyone, and Smriti was her usual cheerful self. Everyone knows their role, and that helps," Muzumdar added.

Before the semi-final against Australia, he had written one simple line on the whiteboard: “We just need one more run than them to reach the final.” Muzumdar said that the loss against England in the group stage had lit a spark within the team.

“The next practice session had more energy and intent. Sometimes it’s not failure — it’s just a hiccup that teaches you more. I am still in a daze after the win against Australia," he concluded.
