Suryakumar Yadav’s last-over thriller rescues India vs USA in T20 World Cup 2026
Suryakumar Yadav smashed 21 runs in the final over to rescue India after a strong bowling display from United States in the T20 World Cup 2026.

In a thrilling Match 3 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, defending champions India survived a massive scare against the USA at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The USA captain Monank Patel decided to field after winning the toss. His decision paid off as India struggled to settle against disciplined bowling.
India’s innings started on a poor note when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck by Ali Khan. Ishan Kishan showed intent with a stunning scoop six at 0.5 over. However, he was later dismissed for 20 off 16 balls by Shadley van Schalkwyk. India then slipped badly as wickets fell quickly.
The middle order could not handle the pressure as Tilak Varma (25) and Shivam Dube (0) departed in quick time. Amid the collapse, captain Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant innings under pressure. He remained unbeaten on 84 off 49 balls and held the innings together. Rinku Singh (6) and Hardik Pandya (5) failed to support him. Axar Patel chipped in with 13 runs. India were 140/8 at the end of the 19th over and were desperately needed a strong finish.
SKY's Last Over Fireworks vs USA
Saurabh Netravalkar’s last over turned into a thriller. On 19.1, SKY started with a four, slicing a slower ball through point. He followed it up on 19.2 with a six, shuffling across to scoop a length delivery over deep fine leg. On 19.3, Netravalkar bowled a full toss which SKY smoked over long-off for another six, bringing up India's 160. The carnage continued on 19.4 as SKY ramped a full ball for four over short fine leg.

The momentum slowed on 19.5 with a slower dot ball that beat the bat. On the final delivery, 19.6, SKY hit a low full toss to deep mid-wicket for a single. A mix-up occurred when Varun Chakaravarthy (1) pushed for a second run; he was run out after a sharp throw from Mohammad Mohsin was collected by keeper Andries Gous. India finished their 20 overs at 161/9, with SKY's late explosion yielding 21 runs from the over.
The USA's bowling was led by a sensational Shadley van Schalkwyk, who finished with 4/25, including the crucial wickets of Kishan and Varma. Ali Khan (1/13) provided the early spark, while spinners Mohammad Mohsin (1/16) and Harmeet Singh (2/26) were incredibly economical in the middle overs. Netravalkar had a tough time finishing, but the USA's performance overall showed they have a place on the world stage.
