Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, along with former Team India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, recently attended comedian Anirban Dasgupta’s show at the Bay Club in Mumbai. Their presence at the event quickly became the highlight of the evening.

Dasgupta later posted a series of photos with the duo on his official Instagram handle. In his caption, he expressed gratitude and excitement, mentioning how special it was to host such well-known personalities from the cricketing world at his show.

The pictures soon went viral, with fans thrilled to see the cricketer and coach enjoying some light-hearted moments off the field. The meet-up reflected the strong bond Iyer and Nayar share beyond cricket, while also showcasing their fun-loving side. It was a rare glimpse of them away from the game, connecting with entertainment and enjoying downtime in a casual and cheerful setting.

Shreyas Iyer and Abhishek Nayar Attended Comedy Show:

Shreyas Iyer has remained in the spotlight after being left out of India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, a decision that raised eyebrows considering his strong performances in recent months. The elegant right-hander last played a T20I in December 2023 but displayed steady form during the IPL 2025 season.

Leading the Punjab Kings, he amassed more than 600 runs and guided the team to their first final appearance in over a decade, marking a standout season both as batter and skipper. Iyer also played a crucial role in India’s Champions Trophy triumph earlier this year in the UAE, underlining his value in major tournaments.

Meanwhile, comedian Anirban Dasgupta shared an Instagram post with Iyer, expressing delight at hosting him. He captioned, “ Highlight of my week was doing Cry Daddy, my sports themed show, with the legends @shreyasiyer96 @abhisheknayar in the audience. What an honor! Close match finished 7-7.”

Abhishek Nayar, who represented India in three ODIs back in 2009, later transitioned into coaching. Before serving as the assistant coach of the national men’s team, he was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ support staff in the IPL. Following the BCCI’s decision to end his contract, the 41-year-old was appointed as the head coach of UP Warriorz ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Shreyas Iyer Set to Play in Duleep Trophy:

Shreyas Iyer has secured a place in West Zone’s squad for the Duleep Trophy 2025-26, beginning August 28 in Bengaluru. His next international duty is expected to come during India’s limited-overs series in Australia, beginning October 19. The tour will feature three One-Day Internationals and five T20 matches against the Aussies, marking a crucial challenge for the Men in Blue.

He might earn a spot in India’s T20I squad for the Australia tour, with selection hinging on the team’s showing in the Asia Cup 2025. At 30, he may also participate in a few Ranji Trophy games this season, aiming to strengthen his case for a comeback to the national Test squad.
