Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood created history in Pakistan domestic cricket, as he slammed the fastest double-century in Pakistan first-class cricket after breaking the legendary batter Inzamam-ul-Haq’s record.

In the Pakistan first-class cricket tournament, President's Trophy Grade-I, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited captain Shan Masood, the 36-year-old, set a new record on the opening day of the match against Sahir at Karachi.

Shan Masood scored 212 not out on opening day

After Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited were sent to bat first, they scored 460/2 at the stumps of the opening day, as they had a run rate of 5.59. For the second wicket, opener Ali Zaryab and captain Shan Masood had a 390-run partnership.

While Ali scored 192 runs off 237 balls with 26 fours and four sixes, Shan scored 212 not out off 185 balls with 28 fours and two sixes.

Shan Masood broke Inzamam-ul-Haq's record with 177-ball 200 runs

On the first day of the match, Shan completed his double-century in just 177 balls. It set a new record for the fastest double-century in Pakistan first-class cricket. The previous record was an 188-ball 200 runs by Inzamam-ul-Haq during a tour game in England in 1992.

There is a question about Shan Masood’s international cricket future, and the powerful double-century came in this situation. Earlier this year, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted him as the full-time Director of International Cricket and Players Relations role, he declined that offer. He has been appointed as the consultant for international cricket and player affairs last October, while the PCB is still approaching him for the permanent role of administration position by finishing his professional career, which Shan isn’t interested in at the moment.
