The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s Vice President Rajeev Shukla found himself amidst controversy regarding a manipulated AI-altered video circulating on social media. He has cleared the air, confirming that the audio is AI-altered, and urged the public not to believe anything said in that video.

Recently, Pakistan's former cricketer Shoaib Malik hosted a cricket show where a video was shown to the public with an AI-altered audio of Rajeev Shukla, giving remarks on the ICC and their decision to encourage Pakistan to play against India in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The main motive of the video was to spread wrong information and influence the viewers.

The show aired on ARY News, quickly gaining the attention of everyone. However, the Vice President took to his Twitter account to formally inform the public that the video is fake and the information is completely 'misleading'.

“A video of my remarks on the India-Pakistan World Cup match has been manipulated using AI to alter the audio. These statements are not mine. I urge everyone not to believe or circulate this misleading content and to report it wherever such videos are seen," he said in a post on Twitter.

Pakistan takes U-Turn, agrees to clash against India in T20 World Cup 2026

The rivalry between India and Pakistan have been ages long, but when it comes to an ICC event, it holds much more importance to the players, ICC, the respective boards, as well as the broadcasters. Just a few weeks before the match, Pakistan took to Twitter to inform everyone regarding their decision to boycott the clash against India, scheduled on February 15.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), they were taking a stand for Bangladesh, who were replaced by Scotland in the tournament. For the unversed, Bangladesh approached the ICC to reschedule their matches to Sri Lanka due to safety concerns in India. But, ICC stood firm on their decision not move the match and gave a day's notice to Bangladesh to revert. But they failed to do so and were eventually replaced.

After waiting for some time, ICC intervened, and the Men in Green have finally altered their decision and agreed to participate in the encounter against India. This came in a few days before the scheduled game. India will travel to Sri Lanka to play the match against their arch-rivals.
