Rohit Sharma announced retirement from the T20Is right after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. He later went onto announce the retirement from Tests in 2025 and his last game for India was during Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He is now active in only format of the game, which is ODIs. Recently he was at an event and three months after the retirement from Tests, he has spoken about the format and the challenges it comes with.

Rohit spoke at length about the format and said that the game demands longevity. He a further added that playing for 4-5 days in a Test match becomes mentally challenging and draining at the same time. He also reminisced the old days playing club cricket and for Mumbai and added that a player gets prepared from an early age to adapt to the conditions and style of the format.

“It is something that you prepare for, because the game demands longevity. Especially in the Test format, you have to last for five days. Mentally, it is very challenging and it is draining as well. But all cricketers have been brought up playing First-Class cricket,” said Rohit as quoted by NDTV sports.

“When we start playing cricket at a competitive level, even in Mumbai, club cricket (matches) go on for two days (or) three days so we are built like that and it starts at a very young age for us. It kind of makes it a little easier how to respond to situations that are there in front of you," he added.
