Ahead of the IPL 2027, there has been some injury news that has given a massive blow to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp.
Karthik Sharma, who has been a flamboyant wicket-keeper batter from Rajasthan, will be representing the five-time champions and has picked up an injury while playing in a local tournament. He was seen walking off the field with support while he was batting on 39 in 14 balls as the incident occurred before the 8.4 over of the match.
Karthik has smashed 334 runs in 11 innings of the shortest format at an average of 30.36 and a strike rate of 162.92, with the help of two half-centuries at the best score of 58 runs. In the last five games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025/26, he didn’t get a single fifty but had two scores of over 35.

After nailing three boundaries in the first three deliveries of Vipraj Nigam, Karthik lay down inside the ground and had some issues with his back as the physio came running in. The injury has not been confirmed yet, whether it’s a minor one or he retired on his own to give other batters a chance.
Karthik’s physio, through the social media platforms, has revealed that the player has a mid-spasm, which has already been taken care of, and there is nothing to worry about. He will be a vital player for the Super Kings, who invested a lot of money in that youngster.
CSK will be under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, and it could be the last season of their former captain and the wicket-keeper batter, MS Dhoni. They will also be without Ravindra Jadeja, the veteran spin all-rounder, after nearly one and a half decades.
