“If he cannot play more than two matches” - Sanjay Manjrekar not keen on Jasprit Bumrah playing Asia Cup 2025
The Asia Cup is scheduled to commence in September and the squad for the same will be unveiled in less than a week’s time.

Jasprit Bumrah has been grappling with injury concerns. Having said that, the pacer has been on and off from the team owing to maintain his workload. In the recently concluded Test series against England, he played three games and was rested for the two games as the series ended in a 2-2 draw. This has also cast shadow on his inclusion in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to commence in September and the squad for the same will be unveiled in less than a week’s time. With Mohammed Siraj being one of the premier pacer, Bumrah’s inclusion is not certain yet. Shedding light on the issue, former India cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar has not backed Bumrah to feature in the Asia Cup.
"If he cannot play more than two matches in a row or sometimes even more than one, he must not be your frontline pick. Players who are match fit, eager, keen to play and perform should be picked any day for me over a highly skilled player. It will motivate such enthusiastic players even more,” said Manjrekar as quoted by India Today.
"This is not an idealistic position to take, but it’s the right one for the long-term health of a team sport," he added.
