"I just heard..." - Donald Trump wishes all the best for Team USA after losing opening match in the T20 World Cup 2026

The United States cricket team received a passionate message of support from US President Donald Trump during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The message reached fans who were happy because it arrived after Team USA lost to India. 

Trump published his message about the Cricket World Cup to Truth Social on Sunday night by stating, "I just heard the Cricket World Cup is underway in India! I want to wish good luck to TEAM USA! We have a very strong team. America is rooting for you!" The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of reactions, with cricket followers pointing out that the encouragement arrived after the Americans had already completed their opening match.

The USA cricket team lost to the India cricket team by 29 runs at Mumbai's famous Wankhede Stadium on Saturday night. The match ended in a loss but turned out to be more competitive than most people anticipated.

Early collapse, strong fightback as India hold off brave USA

The Indian team faced serious difficulties because they lost multiple players which resulted in their score of 77 runs with six wickets lost. Suryakumar Yadav, who served as captain, performed an outstanding rescue mission by scoring an unbroken 84 runs from 49 deliveries to help the defending champions reach a competitive score of 161 runs with nine wickets lost. His batting performance combined creative batting techniques with strong hitting abilities and the ability to remain calm during difficult situations.

Shadley van Schalkwyk delivered an outstanding bowling performance for the USA team by taking four wickets which helped him defeat India’s top batting lineup.

Mohammed Siraj delivered two powerplay strikes which disrupted the American team during their 162-run chase. The Indian spinners established complete control of the match during the middle overs, which allowed them to achieve victory after Milind Kumar, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, and Shubham Ranjane put up resistance against them.

The USA team received credit for their performance against one of the world’s top teams because Trump delivered his message after the match had already concluded. The presidential pep talk delivered at the end of the game produced no impact on the final score yet it created a humorous scene within the World Cup competition.
