In Match 5 of the season for the 2025 Global Super League, Rangpur Riders edged out Hobart Hurricanes in a close 1-run win at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Put in to bat, the Riders scored 151/6 in 20 overs, driven by an outstanding 67 off 42 from opener Kyle Mayers and a consistent 43 off 31 by Ibrahim Zadran. Despite a brilliant bowling effort from Usama Mir (3/15), Hobart was set a competitive target.

In reply, the Hurricanes came close but were ultimately bowled out for 150 in 20 overs, falling heartbreakingly short. Mohammad Nabi top-scored with 44 (36), and Ben McDermott added a quick 34 (19), but tight death bowling from Khaled Ahmed (4/26) and Iftikhar Ahmed (2/13) sealed the win for Rangpur.

With this win, Rangpur Riders are still undefeated in the competition and move to the top of the GSL 2025 points table with 4 points and a net run rate of +0.225. Hobart Hurricanes, with their first defeat, sit in the third position with 2 points.
