Lucknow Super Giants star Mitchell Marsh, the Australian all-rounder, hit his first IPL century during their 13th IPL 2025 match against the hosts and table toppers Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Thursday night (May 22). With the help of this century, IPL has got a new story that started from its inaugural edition in 2008.

IPL 2025, GT vs LSG: Mitchell Marsh scored 117 runs

Lucknow Super Giants scored 235/2 in 20 overs with the power of opener Mitchell Marsh's brilliant century. After completing his sixth IPL 2025 50 and second consecutive 50 in 33 balls, where the right-handed batter slammed four fours and four sixes, he recorded his first IPL century in 56 balls. It was the seventh IPL 2025 century, which was the first IPL 2025 hundred by an overseas batter. Marsh scored 117 off 64 balls with the help of 10 fours and eight sixes before Arshad Khan dismissed him in the 19th over.

Opener Mitchell Marsh had two important partnerships during that memorable century. While he had a 91-run opening partnership with Aiden Markram, he and Nicholas Pooran had another 121-run partnership for the second wicket.

With his 117 runs, LSG opener Mitchell Marsh recorded the second-highest individual score in the IPL 2025, behind SunRisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma's 141 against Punjab Kings in Hyderabad during their successful chase of the 246-run target.

Marsh brothers with IPL centuries

Meanwhile, this century from Mitchell Marsh was very special because it was the first time that IPL experienced brothers' names in the long IPL centuries list.

In the IPL 2008, the inaugural edition of the cash-rich tournament, Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh, the elder brother of Mitchell Marsh, became the first uncapped cricketer to record an IPL century. Serving for Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings), Shaun scored 115 off 69 balls against Rajasthan Royals in Mohali. It was his only IPL century, while he played 71 IPL matches all for the Punjab franchise.

Now, the latest IPL century from Mitchell Marsh set a first story of a pair of brothers scoring IPL centuries.
