The injury of Rishabh Pant changed the momentum after the conclusion of Day 1 of the ongoing 4th Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy. After losing 4 wickets and an injured Rishabh Pant, India will start Day 2 with Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur and 264 on the scoreboard.

An inspiring England skipper, Ben Stokes, again took the central stage when India was in a commanding position at Old Trafford, Manchester. The first session of the day was evenly squared. India's opening pair—KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal—was going strong together when Chris Woakes, the best bowler for England in the first session, struck. A thick edge from Rahul went straight to Zak Crawley.

In the following session, the home team clinched a couple of wickets. Introducing the spinner Liam Dawson was a brilliant move from Ben Stokes. Dawson's flighted, luring deliveries distract India batters concentration. Yashasvi Jaiswal took out his leg to defend it forward but produced an edge to be caught by Harry Brook. After losing the wicket of Jaiswal, this time in-form India captain Shubman Gill failed to protect his wicket. His counterpart's close-to-the-wicket delivery hit the front pad of Gill. Gill was in a dilemma before confronting the length ball.

Key Moments of the day:

  • Useful knocks from Sai Sudharsan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul
  • Inspiring Ben Stokes
  • Rishabh Pant's injury

Team India tried to regroup themselves through a partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant. Pant went back to the hut with an injured right foot. After playing some unorthodox shots, the vice of men in blue decided to go fearless against Chris Wokes. A delivery from Woakes hit on the right boot of the pant. On the other side, Sudharshan expressed his disappointment after producing a top edge on a Ben Stokes delivery. The young batter played a pull shot to produce a top edge, which landed on the grip of Brydon Carse.
