India’s Super Eight rivals in the T20 World Cup 2026 have been decided after Zimbabwe advanced following their rain-affected match with Ireland. The Men in Blue are in Group 1 and aim to defend their World Cup crown.

The defending champions secured a spot in the Super Eight by beating Pakistan in their third tournament match. India remains unbeaten so far and is targeting a historic title defence.

With the group stage nearing completion, seven Super Eight teams have been confirmed. Only a few matches remain, but most qualifiers are already known. A major surprise was Australia being eliminated at the group stage.

India has won all its matches so far, including the key encounter against Pakistan. One game remains against Namibia in Group A, but their fixtures for the Super Eight stage are now finalised.

India’s Super Eight Opponents Confirmed for T20 World Cup 2026

India’s rivals in the T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight stage are now confirmed. The Men in Blue are in Group 1 as the top-seeded X1 team. South Africa (X4), the West Indies (X3), and Zimbabwe, who qualified from Group B after Australia was eliminated, will join them.

India will begin the Super Eight against South Africa on February 22, face Zimbabwe on February 26, and play the West Indies on March 1.

Fixtures:

  • India vs South Africa: February 22, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, 7:00 PM IST

  • India vs Zimbabwe: February 26, MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, 7:00 PM IST

  • India vs West Indies: March 1, Eden Gardens, Kolkata, 7:00 PM IST

India Aims for Historic T20 Title Defence

India is unbeaten in the tournament so far. They defeated the USA, Namibia, and Pakistan convincingly. Their final group-stage match against the Netherlands on February 18 will not affect their Super Eight spot, but it gives the Netherlands a chance to advance.

The team hopes to make history by defending the T20 World Cup, winning on home soil, and claiming a third T20 title.

Group and Venue Details

India is in Group 1 with Zimbabwe, the West Indies, and South Africa. All matches will take place in India: Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Kolkata.

Pre-Seeding System for Super Eight

The ICC assigned pre-seeds to top teams for clarity. Each team keeps its fixed label even if it finishes second in the group stage. If a seeded team fails to qualify, the team that replaces it inherits the seed and schedule. This system helps fans plan tickets and broadcasters organise matches.
