The beginning of the heat: Bangladesh vs India

After the ICC revealed the complete schedule for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, everything was going fine until the first week of the new year. While the BCCI decided to remove Mustafizur Rahman's IPL 2026 contract for the Kolkata Knight Riders after significant protests inside the country, the BCB refused to send the national team to India for the T20 World Cup.

While the BCCI and the Indian government clarified to provide full security, and the ICC confirmed it, the BCB showed its desperation to shift all their tournament matches to Sri Lanka.

As the time was very limited, while the tournament was very near to begin, starting from February 7, the ICC had a meeting and decided to replace Scotland if the BCB continues their stance. As the BCB never moved on from their decision, the ICC was forced to remove Bangladesh and replace them with Scotland in Group C of the tournament.

Since then, Bangladesh has been protesting against the ICC. While the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 has started on Saturday (February 7), the country is protesting against the ICC's decision to remove the Bangladesh team. Many people have come to the street with the placards, mainly targeting India's position in the ICC. Some people have even decided not to watch Indian matches in the tournament.
