The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that all revenue from the third T20I between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be donated to support the families of victims affected by the recent tragic jet crash at Milestone College in Uttara. The BCB also pledged contributions to the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation as part of this charitable initiative. This comes in response to the devastating accident that claimed at least 30 lives and injured over 170 individuals when a training jet crashed into the school premises in the capital earlier this week.
BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul expressed the board’s commitment to stand in solidarity with the victims and their families during this time of mourning. He emphasized the importance of Bangladesh cricket contributing to meaningful social causes and honoring those affected by such tragedies. The BCB will also observe a moment of remembrance for the lives lost during the match, paying tribute to the victims of Monday’s heartbreaking incident.
“Cricket in Bangladesh is more than a sport, it's a part of our national soul. At times of grief and remembrance, we must stand together as a community. The BCB is humbled to contribute in a small way to the healing process for those who have suffered so deeply in these recent tragedies. Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the victims,” stated Bulbul, as quoted in the press release from the board dated Thursday, July 24.
Bangladesh claimed series against Pakistan 2-1
Bangladesh secured a 2-1 series win over Pakistan by clinching the first two T20Is with strong performances. Parvez Hossain Emon’s unbeaten 56 off 39 balls guided the hosts to a seven-wicket win in the opener, while Jaker Ali's composed 55 off 48 deliveries earned him Player of the Match in the second game, which Bangladesh won by eight runs. Their bowlers delivered standout performances in both matches, keeping the visitors under control and helping the home side wrap up the series before the final encounter.
However, Bangladesh couldn’t end the series on a high note, suffering a heavy 74-run defeat in the third T20I in Dhaka. Pakistan posted 178/7, courtesy of Sahibzada Farhan’s brisk 63 off 41 balls. In response, Bangladesh crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 104 runs in 16.4 overs. Mohammad Saifuddin was the only resistance with a gritty 35* off 34 balls, while opener Mohammad Naim managed only 10 from 17 deliveries.
