India’s Women’s World Cup-winning head coach Amol Muzumdar revealed that his now-viral “seven hours without noise” speech was completely spontaneous. The former domestic cricket star, who led India to their first Women’s World Cup title, talked about the moment and his most memorable game of the tournament in an interview with the BCCI.

The speech was compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s famous “Sattar minute” monologue from Chak De! India, where he motivated the Indian women’s hockey team before their World Cup final. But Muzumdar said he does not plan or perform for effect — what he said came straight from his heart.

Muzumdar Speaks from the Heart

Reflecting later, Muzumdar said, “I am not about dramatics. What comes out is honest, and I speak from my heart. I do not know why people compare it to SRK’s Chak De India speech. I see things on my phone, so maybe that is why people notice similarities.”

He explained that while his team talks before most matches were planned, this one was completely spontaneous.

“Until the semifinals, I always knew what I was going to say in the huddle. I wanted to charge up the players and set the right tone. But in the finals, the seven-hour speech was totally impromptu. I did not know what I would say. I just tapped my shoulder and spoke what I felt at that moment.”

Muzumdar also recalled how India recovered after three early defeats to South Africa, Australia, and England. He said the must-win game against New Zealand was the turning point. A record partnership between centurions Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal helped India score 340/3 and secure a place in the semifinals.
